Vintage Ethan Allen Twin Bed Frame...

Since we had some of the Thundercloud Gray (Benjamin Moore) paint left, we decided that this vintage bed frame would be perfect for it.

The bed frame is by Ethan Allen. It was from their Custom Room Plan Furniture and the color was Daffodil. She was in need of an update.

Here's how she turned out...

We were missing one of the caps for the posts...

So, I went to Hobby Lobby and found four of these great little hardware knobs and placed them on top of the posts. My husband does NOT like them at all. I think they look really cute... like little knobs at the end of a curtain rod. I even like the contrast of color. They are a  mixture of creamy white and white-washed wood giving it a gold hue. So pretty to me, I'm sticking with them! However, I do realize not everyone will appreciate them. My husband's exact words were: "it looks like you stuck four little rotten pumpkins up there."

I picture her with some crisp white linens to complete the look!
I love how this piece turned out... rotten pumpkins and all. :)

You can see the vintage dresser that was painted this same color  here.
I think they would make a great pair for a little girl's bedroom.

empire dresser and a custom bathroom vanity...

I have two projects to show you today! It's been a struggle to get much of anything done around here but that is the song and dance of a young mother's life. One project is from Mimi's Vintage Charm and the other one is by my husband at River Valley Woodcraft.

Here's the before picture of the empire dresser...

This is such a great piece! I got this dresser from a friend. She needed a few little repairs so my husband took care of those for me. Then she sat in storage for a VERY LONG TIME. I was nervous to work on her. As you know, the pieces I normally work on tend to be on their last leg... meaning nowhere else to go except up. I didn't want to mess this one up and I went back and forth so many times on how to paint her. Finally, after seeing a custom bathroom vanity that my husband built and painted for someone I knew I had found the perfect color for this dresser. So, here she is...

The color is Thundercloud Gray by Benjamin Moore and it is beautiful!

So, now let me show you the bathroom vanity that inspired me...

My husband built and painted the vanity and the homeowner made the sink, countertop and backsplash herself from soapstone. Pretty amazing!
