"Junkin in June"

Bentley Boy and I went "Junkin in June" as they were calling it today. It was so much fun! Not even the rain could spoil our day. I found some great little home accessories. The frame pictured below was my favorite find of the day. Bentley thought this was very funny.

Here's the rest of my collection. Most likely it will all get a fresh coat of "Westhhighland White" from Sherwin Williams.

The old frame and mirror were purchased from JB Knacker's. The black vintage mailbox was from Once Was. The shabby little chair and vanity mirror/tray was from One Man's Junk. We had lunch at one of my favorite places, The Dutch Oven Bakery in Boone and then stopped by my Grandpa's for a little visit. I wanted to go visit some more of the vendors, but I was running out of steam and my back was aching from lugging that boy around. So my responsible side took over and I did one last stop for groceries ...blah... and then home. I look forward to doing this next year with NO KIDS!!! :)

DIY Father's Day Card...Warning: VERY homemade...hopefully not too homely!

So, little miss and I were looking for a father's day card. We weren't finding what we wanted, so we decided to make one. The down side of that is we are not gifted with making cards and that is putting it nicely:) I decided to go old school!!!! Yep, we were cutting out words and phrases from old magazines and here's how it came together for our special guy:

In case you've forgotten how this lost art form works, here's what you need:)

Now, with a little creativity...you get the perfect card!
It's the thought that counts right? In our case I hope so.
We needed it to say just the right thing...our guy has been working incredibly hard for us.

JB Knacker...How I love thee!

I wanted to introduce you to one of my favorite places to shop, JB Knacker. I went there again today and was reminded how much I love this place.

Location: 123 Main Street Gilbert, IA 50105
The owner, Brenda is referred to as the "godmother of junk" and let me tell you, she finds some awesome "junk". Awhile back I purchased these little things from her...can't wait to put them to use.

The sweet girls working today allowed me to snap a few pictures so that I could tell you about an event she has coming up.

If you've never been, here's your chance. Mark your calendars for Saturday June 25th. JB Knacker's doors will open at 8am. A light breakfast is served and throughout the entire store it is 20% off. She calls it "The Breakfast Club". Not only that, a small flea market will be offered in the side yard! She will also send you on your way with a map to some of her other business pals.
Here's a list of some:

Boone, IA
Once Was
The Junk Refunkery
Red Barn Rustics

Ames, IA
One Man's Junk

Nevada, IA
Barntiques

So, gather up some of your friends and hit the road. I will be out and about all day checking out these places. Hope to see you there!
