DIY: Cake Plate
I loved the idea of a DIY Cake Plate. I came across this idea on Pinterest.
Have I mentioned how much I love that place? :)
Well, I also LOVE vintage dishes.
This is a great way to use those pretty plates that you just can't pass up.
Here's how mine turned out...
Here's how mine turned out...
1. Pick out your pretty plate/plates.
2. Find a base.
Candlestick holders from thrift stores work great.
3. Prime your base.
This is my favorite primer.
4. Paint your base with color of choice.
My plate had just a bit of yellow mixed in with the pretty pinks.
I wanted the base to "pop", so I went with a bright and sunny yellow.
5. Apply the glue to your base.
(my husband was happy to be the model for this one)
This was the glue we used:
6. Find the center and apply the base.
Let it dry overnight.
Now you get to enjoy a pretty cake plate!
I think there are so many ways to use these. They make beautiful cake/pastry plates. A small plate could be used for a birthday cupcake or a candle. Perhaps a small dish for jewelry or a bar of hand soap placed next to the sink. I think they would make a very unique and thoughtful gift as well. That's what I have in mind for the two I made. I know exactly who I am passing these on to.
You can find me on Pinterest here .
