Paris Grey Vanity

I finally bought some Annie Sloan Chalk Paint!
After selling a few projects I decided it was time to try it.
I went with my first love, Paris Grey.

This is the vanity that needed some help and I thought Paris Grey was the answer. The mirror was broken so I did away with that part. I think she looks cute as a desk or a pretty mirror can always be hung above her to maintain the purpose of the vanity.

I went to work and decided to test one of the many claims to fame of this paint and that is... no sanding or priming is required. It really is amazing. I was so pleased with the first coat and the coverage it gave. I decided to do a quick and light sand and then a light second coat of paint. I was completely satisfied with it. However, my kids decided to have a water fight... in the garage... right next to my freshly painted vanity! So needless to say, I sanded the second coat and applied a third coat. After that, I waxed and buffed her. Little Miss got a few shots of this and it was true to form. I usually have a baby on my hip :)

Here she is...

The details on this piece are great.
I loved the hardware and was happy to reuse it.
They just needed some paint and distressing as well.

I loved the chalk paint. It's an amazing product. After having made several batches of "DIY: chalk paint", this stuff is obviously in a league of it's own and there is no comparison. "Brilliant" is all I have to say to Annie Sloan. For all my central Iowa friends... if you want to know a place where you can buy Annie Sloan Chalk Paint check out TLC Vintage Collection . Make sure you allow some time to look around. Janet has a shop full of beautiful vintage housewares. You will be so glad you found this place!

I love the Paris Grey and am looking forward to trying some more colors. I'm curious to know all about  Miss Mustard Seeds Milk Paint as well. She has some great colors out there. I'll let you know all about it when I try it.

It is so pretty. In the original picture is that a piece of trip on the back or a different piece of furniture leaning against it? Dianntha

I just found your blog via French Country blog and have been enjoying reading your project posts. The comment you made about trying a DIY chalk paint vs. Annie Sloan's paint is very helpful. I was on the fence about making my own, vs buying. Thanks for your candid opinion about Annie's being the best option! I'm all about less work, like sanding and priming. Love your blog!
