On the hunt for these vintage pieces...

I'm focusing on building up a great little collection of vintage rentals. "Small but mighty" is the mindset. Since I have so many helpful (& thrifty) friends and family members, I thought I'd put an inspiration post together to give you all an idea of what I'm looking for next. Many of you have even asked me about this. I so appreciate your help as I stretch my nickels and dimes to pull this together. Between Brett and I, we're able to do the work that is often needed for these pieces. We'll need to find most of them before they hit the antique shops.

The starting point is pretty tables, buffets and dressers. They are versatile pieces and "must haves" for so many events. Here are some ideas....

Farmhouse Tables, in particular, are what I'm looking for...

I would love to add a wood fireplace mantel to my collection. I'm seeing these more and more and I absolutely LOVE them! Hope to have one in my collection very soon.

A charming old church pew would be a wonderful addition. Some places are gathering sets of these and using them in both indoor and outdoor settings. I will happily start with one.

I need to find a settee and/or sofa. It's a tricky piece for me because I'll need to be able to use it "as is" before investing in reupholstery. The lounge areas that are created with settees, sofas and chairs are so fun! And often these pieces are used for photo shoots as well.

I am looking for inspiration to upholster an 18thC. Italian settee and came across some beautiful images of French and Italian upholstered settees, most of them embellished with cushions. Whether upholstered in damask, velvet, linen or cotton, all can be beautiful, depending on the style of the room where it has to

Vintage gold décor for your wedding. Lovely white mantel, empty golf frame with fresh flower arrangement in the center. Beautiful old, vintage chairs with side table in between. Charming and very pretty.

And finally, I need to find an old general store counter (or something along those lines) to work with. It can be used as a wine/bar area or for food buffets.

If anyone wants to find me a quaint and charming store front like one of these, I say go for it. I would actually love to have a shop in Boone, Iowa if time keeps marching on. I think Boone needs to become an antique town filled with shops, cafes and charming B&B's.

The Mabel and Della Table with the Flora Door (vintage rentals)

I finished working on two charming vintage tables this week. For both of these pieces, I used General Finishes Milk Paint in "Seagull Gray". It's such a clean and crisp light gray.

Here's the Mabel Farmhouse Table....

For the tabletop I used Minwax water based wood stain in "White Wash Pickling".

She would work great in so many settings. Since it's November, I wanted to display her with some beautiful and scrumptious pies from The Bistro in Story City, Iowa. You can find Robyn's FB page here . I love to check in and see what she's cooking up. Homemade pies are perfect for this time of year and these were both beautiful and delicious!

The Mabel Farmhouse Table measures:
height- 29 in. width- 37 in. depth- 24 in.
+Rental Price: 35 dollars

+White Metal Scalloped Cake Plate
Rental Price: 4 dollars

+Green Glass Cake Stand
Rental Price: 7 dollars

I have the charming old Flora Door behind the table. The added texture and character is such a fun detail. It's perfect for hanging signs, like this cute French pastry one, or so many other things: garland banners, chalkboards, greenery, etc.

And now for the little Della Table.

Perhaps you need an accent table to warm up a little entryway and hold programs or pictures for your special gathering. The vintage egg crate with glass bottles is also available to rent if you like that detail.

The Della Table measures:
height- 29 in. width- 32 in. (with the handles) depth- 17 in.
+Rental Price: 18 dollars

Dream: Revive this Old Barn for our Workshop

Just want to document a little project that Brett and I worked on this past week. We entered the Chip-Starter Contest put on by Chip Gaines from Fixer Upper. The theme was "No dream or goal is too big!". Wish I could say we made the finals... but that is not our case. We just barely got our video submitted in time before the contest was over. I'm so glad we tried... it was good for us to work on this together.

About this Project

Brett built our cottage out in the country, now we have our sights set on our old barn that has stood for over 100 years. It’s time for a revival! Our dream is to bring this barn back to life to be used as a home-based workshop for our family. This 30′ x 40′ structure is ideal for Brett’s carpentry shop work and for me to work on my vintage and antique furniture projects. We have in mind an open workshop with a separate room to do finishing work (paint, stain, etc.). For the exterior, a white board and batten barn would be simply perfect. This barn is part of the history of our farm and we don’t want her to fade away. She has such great potential and would serve a great purpose for our family.

Video Entry...

Would love to see her come back to life! Maybe someday. It's been good to dream lately.

The Eleanor Buffet (vintage rentals)

Introducing The Eleanor Buffet....

She's a great vintage cabinet with lovely details. I painted this piece with Amy Howard's One Step Paint in "Ballet White". If you're in the central Iowa area, Cappel's Ace Hardware in West Des Moines stocks a great selection of Amy Howard products.

Robyn, at The Bistro in Story City, made me the prettiest cupcakes for these photos. She has an occasional café and catering business. Her food is amazing! If you're ever in that area, be sure to stop in for a delicious meal and save room for dessert. Thanks so much Robyn!

Eleanor could be used in all sorts of settings... think dessert or drink station, cake table, display piece for photos, etc. Her dimensions are: height- 36.5 inches, width- 41.5 inches, depth-19 inches.

The banner stand is available to rent and it goes great with Eleanor...

I have two fruit crates available. They are both painted in "French Blue" by Amy Howard as well as the vintage mailbox (which was featured here).

The Poppy Table and Winston Wagon (vintage rentals)

Introducing the Poppy Table....

She is one of my all-time-favorite finds. Love the simple details of this piece. When I bought her she looked like this...

The photo is from my IG account awhile back. I decided to use Amy Howard's at Home One Step Paint. It's similar to Chalk Paint, and really great to work with. "Ballet White" was my color choice. If you're interested,  Cappel's Ace Hardware in West Des Moines stocks Amy Howard products. Here's a quick look at the color options...

I love how she turned out. Great potential for so many settings, especially as a guest book table. And she pairs beautifully with the Rosily Chair (featured here ).

I found this vintage mailbox and thought it would be a great addition to the collection. I painted her in Amy Howard's One Step Paint as well. "French Blue" was the perfect choice for a little pop of color. The gold letters are from Hobby Lobby. Notice the little detail at the bottom... you can make a name tag fitting for the occasion.

Dimensions for Poppy are: height- 30.5 inches, width- 34 inches, depth- 19.5 inches.

The Winston Wagon is also available. As I painted it gray and white,  I pictured it being useful as a wedding wagon. Practical, simple and sweet. The dimensions are: height- 20 inches, width- 36 inches, depth- 16 inches (the white side rails do come off if needed).

Thanks for stopping by! More features to come.
